Can your dog fly in the cabin?

Yes, with conditions

Dogs may travel in the cabin where pet space is available.

Keep your dog inside its closed carrier under the seat throughout the flight. Seat and aircraft restrictions apply.

What does it cost?

A second pet requires a second adjacent seat where permitted; aircraft limits apply.

Choosing a carrier

18 × 11 × 11 in · maximum

Soft-sided maximum: 18 in long, 11 in wide, 11 in high.

The carrier must be ventilated and fit under the seat. Hard-sided limits differ; confirm your seat.

United states no pet weight or breed limit.

Decisions before you book

These are questions to resolve with the airline, not newly confirmed permissions. A fresh full-page source review remains incomplete.

Ask about every leg, not only the first flight

QUESTION TO CONFIRM

Give United the operating airline, flight number, cabin and carrier measurements for each leg. Ask whether the chosen seat has the required storage and what happens to the pet reservation after an aircraft change.

QUESTION TO CONFIRM

Ask which personal item or carry-on you can take in addition to the pet carrier, and whether your connections or stopovers change the pet charge. Keep the answer with the itinerary; do not assume the headline fee settles every combination.

United — traveling with pets

Use the answers for the route and operating flight you will actually take. A different cabin, aircraft or connection can change the result.
