Conditions matter. These details describe a specific type of trip, not every Alaska Airlines itinerary.
Can your dog fly in the cabin?
Yes, with conditions
Small dogs are accepted, subject to available pet space.
Keep your dog fully enclosed. Stow the carrier under the seat for taxi, takeoff, landing and when instructed. Exit and bulkhead rows are unavailable.
What does it cost?
$100.00 each way · per carrier
The fee is charged per carrier, each way.
Other operating airlines may charge separately.
Choosing a carrier
17 × 11 × 9.5 in · maximum
Only soft-sided carriers are accepted in the cabin.
Your dog must fit comfortably under the seat. Use a ventilated, escape-proof carrier with leak-proof lining and safe absorbent bedding.
Reserve a place for your dog
Contact Alaska by chat or phone to reserve pet space before travel day.
Availability is limited and first come, first served. Two carriers require an extra adjacent seat.
Minimum age
8 weeks
Dogs must be at least eight weeks old.
They must have eaten solid food without nursing for at least five days.
Is there a weight limit?
No published numeric limit
The reviewed cabin policy gives no numeric weight limit.
Comfortable carrier fit remains required; confirm with Alaska.
Decisions before you book

QUESTION TO CONFIRM
When a booking includes Alaska, Hawaiian or another operator, identify who operates each flight. Ask that operator to confirm cabin pet space, accepted carrier type and the chosen seat. A booking on one website is not confirmation for every operator.

QUESTION TO CONFIRM
Request confirmation of outside carrier dimensions, the usable space at your seat and what other cabin baggage you can take. Record your specific cabin, because an answer for a different aircraft or cabin may not resolve your flight.
Alaska — pets in cabinUse the answers for the route and operating flight you will actually take. A different cabin, aircraft or connection can change the result.
