Conditions matter. These details describe a specific type of trip, not every Delta Air Lines itinerary.

Can your dog fly in the cabin?

Yes, with conditions

Small dogs can travel in eligible cabins.

Age, health, fit and available pet spaces still apply.

What does it cost?

$150.00 each way · per carrier

Pay the pet fee at check-in.

For tickets issued on or after April 8, 2025. Earlier tickets have a different fee.

Choosing a carrier

18 × 11 × 11 in · recommended

Aircraft and seat space determine the actual limit.

Dog must move comfortably inside; carrier must fit beneath the seat. Confirm dimensions for your flight.

Reserve a place for your dog

Contact Delta Reservations after booking; have carrier dimensions ready.

Pet spaces are limited.

Minimum age

8 weeks

Domestic pets must be at least eight weeks old.

Is there a weight limit?

No published numeric limit

No numeric weight cap is stated on the reviewed overview.

This does not mean any size dog is accepted: fit requirements still apply.

Decisions before you book

Not every cabin or seat works

Delta excludes pets from Delta One, flat-bed seats, exit rows and bulkhead or other seats without suitable under-seat storage. Additional aircraft-specific restrictions apply. Confirm your seat and aircraft before paying for an upgrade.

Keep space for the carrier in your packing plan

A cabin pet carrier replaces one cabin item: bring it with one personal item or one carry-on bag, not both. Go to the Special Service Counter for pet check-in and allow time for the carrier inspection.
